What characterizes a good stock pot?

When it comes to cookware, quality matters. Fissler focuses on premium quality, durability, and sustainability in its cookware.

A good stock pot is characterized by its material, size, and durability. Stainless steel is a popular choice for stock pots because it is non-reactive, easy to clean, and durable. Aluminum is also a good option as it is a good conductor of heat. The size of the stock pot should be appropriate for the amount of food you typically prepare. Look for a pot with a heavy bottom, which will help to distribute heat evenly and prevent burning. Additionally, a stock pot with a tight-fitting lid will help to retain heat and moisture while cooking.

High quality and durable material: stainless steel stock pots

To ensure that you enjoy your stock pots for as long as possible, they should be made of a material that is particularly hygienic, dimensionally stable, and resistant to heat, alkalis, acids, and corrosion.

Fissler manufactures stock pots primarily from up to 90% recycled 18/10 stainless steel and aluminum.

First class cookware base

The bottom is the core of a good stock pot. A high-quality pot base is characterized by rapid heat conduction, which reduces preparation time, especially on induction stoves. Even heat distribution supports optimal cooking results and avoids spot burns.

Fissler attaches particular importance to the quality and functionality:

  • The exclusive, energy-efficient Fissler CookStar® base is suitable for all types of stoves and optimized for induction. It is extra thick and solid, providing optimal absorption, distribution and retention of heat. The long heat retention makes pots with a CookStar® base particularly energy-efficient.

  • The energy-efficient Superthermic® base is also suitable for all types of stove, including induction.  It offers even absorption, distribution and storage of heat, making excellent use of energy.

Perfectly closing lid

A high-quality lid is characterized by the material and how tightly it fits. Fissler offers different types of lids, depending on the model:

  • Metal lids made of sturdy 18/10 stainless steel with Condensate-Plus function (Original-Profi Collection® pots only), which allow condensed steam to drip back into the pot thanks to their slightly concave curvature in the pot lid, making food even juicier and tastier. Easy to clean and oven-safe up to 450°F.

  • Lids made of quality glass (Bonn and Hamburg stock pot), which are impact-resistant and insensitive to slow thermal changes up to 360°F.  Thanks to the high-quality stainless steel ring with embedded silicone seal, water inclusions or stresses of the glass during heating are avoided.

A tight lid allows only minimal condensation heat to escape and thus speeds up the cooking process. To save energy, Fissler recommends cooking with the lid on whenever possible.

FAQ

Stocks pots are great for cooking soup, pasta, stews, vegetables, or deep frying.

When choosing the right pot, it depends on the number of people and the portion size. Tall pots, for example, are ideal for preparing large portions. Due to the larger volume, they offer enough space to cook for many people or to deep-fry food in sufficient fat until crispy.

A good stock pot is made from durable material, a first-class pot base, handles that stay cool and a lid that closes perfectly. Fissler stock pots also have additional features such as a pouring rim and an integrated measuring scale.
