Pressure Cooker Valves

Fissler pressure cooker cooking valve

In 1953, Fissler invented a multi-stage safety cooking valve allowing for use in private households for the first time. All Fissler pressure cookers have safety valves and meet very strict guidelines.  Pressure cannot build inside the pot until it is properly sealed. Fissler pressure cookers regulate themselves if the pressure inside should be too high. The pressure cooker cannot be opened until the pressure has been safely released. Using a Fissler pressure cooker is very safe.

This is how the Fissler cooking valve works

Fissler pressure cookers are equipped with various devices that independently ensure the safety of the device. These include the cooking valve unit. The cooking valve indicates the pressure level.  You also control the cooking level via the cooking valve.

  • The Vitavit® Premium cooking valve is equipped with a cooking indicator with traffic light function.
  • The colors of the cooking display signal the temperature curve in the pot according to the traffic light principle and aid with regulating the heat.
  • If the yellow ring appears, the set cooking level has almost been reached.
  • As soon as the green ring appears, the cooking time begins. The heat should be regulated so that the cooking indicator remains in the green during the entire cooking process.
  • If the red ring appears, the temperature is too high, and the heat must be adjusted. The pot will automatically release steam to help regulate the temperature.
  • The cooking crown with traffic light function, the Euromatic cooking valve, the special gasket ring and the ergonomic Fissler safety handle with locking  indicator ensure that the pot is closed safely and airtight.

To ensure that the valves can do their job properly, the matching valve seals must be eventually replaced.

How to clean the pressure cooker valve

Fissler valves cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher. Remove the valve and clean it by hand with a damp cloth. After cleaning, make sure that the cooking valve seal is seated in the notch provided and fits tightly against the cooking crown.

Important: Do not oil the valves.
