Pod Lids

Pot lids for time and energy efficient cooking

Pot lids prevent steam from escaping the pot during cooking. By keeping the heat in the pot, food cooks faster. This saves time and energy. Fissler cookware lids made of high-quality 18/10 stainless steel or quality glass are available in various sizes and are suitable for corresponding Fissler pans, cookware, and pressure cookers.

Pot Lids

Why use a pot lid when cooking?

The use of a lid offers several advantages:

  • Retains moisture
  • Faster cooking process
  • Lower energy consumption

The pot lid not only impacts the cooking result, but also has a positive result on the time spent cooking and energy required. Whenever the preparation method permits, Fissler therefore recommends cooking with the lid closed.

We recommend not using a lid when preparing vegetables like broccoli, green beans, etc. Organic acids develop and convert the green pigment chlorophyll into phaeophytin, which makes the vegetables appear gray-brown. If you don't use a lid when cooking, much of the acids can escape through the steam and the graying is delayed. A pinch of baking soda or baking powder will also neutralize the water and prevent the green chlorophyll from graying.

High quality pot lid features

A high-quality lid is an eye-catcher and brings with it practical benefits. Pot lids from Fissler therefore not only meet the highest standards in terms of material processing but also fit tightly on all corresponding cookware sizes.

Form

Cookware lids should be solid and well-shaped to provide the best resistance to rising air or foam.

Density

Only when the lid is tight does the heat of condensation generated during cooking remain in the pot. This means that the boiling point is reached much faster.

Material

Pot lids made of 18/10 stainless steel are particularly robust and easy to clean. They can be used in the oven up to 450°F.

Pot lids made of quality glass are impact-resistant and insensitive to slow thermal changes up to 360°F. In addition, they have a high-quality stainless steel ring with an embedded silicone seal, so there is no water penetration or stress on the glass during heating.

Clean pot lid properly

Both the metal lids and the glass lids from Fissler are dishwasher safe. For a particularly long service life, we recommend gentle cleaning by hand.

Special instructions for handling lids made of 18/10 stainless steel or lids made of quality glass:

  • Before the first use, stainless steel cookware lids should be cleaned according to the instructions in the user manual with warm water, some dishwashing liquid and a soft cloth or sponge.
  • Never soak glass lids with cold water when they are hot, as abrupt temperature fluctuations create great stresses in the material that can cause the glass to burst.
